We pass it by most days

“Spooktacular Halloween Party Tonight!”

it is hanging since 2016

when my daughter, 7 years-old now

“was young”

 

we pass it by most days

laughing

“Can we go Dad?”

            “What will you dress as?”

“A zombie mermaid.”

            “Of course!”

 

the sign says

“Spot Prizes!”

my daughter says

“I wonder what the spot prizes were Dad.”

            “What do you think they were?”

“Maybe a lovely picture in a frame.”

“Or a purse with jewels.”

“Or a puppy.”

 

whatever they might have been

I am sure

that they are long forgotten now
